Sea-Doo: A Case Study in Social Media Integration

During the summer of 2012, Sea-Doo launched a national integrated social media contest strategically designed to encourage consumer interaction with the brand. The contest was fully integrated to include key customer touch points in the brand purchase funnel, integrated both offline and online communication outreach and showcased the Sea-Doo brand through the consumer’s eyes. The contest was a resounding success and surpassed all outlined goals.

Arnold is a 21-year PR/Marketing Communications veteran who is the current social media and PR brand manager for Sea-Doo watercraft, one of BRP’s brands. Arnold has worked with many industries including space industry, the United States Marine Corps and more. She is the current Space Coast FPRA chapter President.

Research plays a key role in any PR or marketing campaign.  Learn about the role of research in Research 101, how market research and consumer insights can add to  content, engagement and make you a more educated and aware PR professional.

Our speaker is Lynette Leathers, CEO of Mindspot Research with 20 years of Marketing Research experience, a six-sigma greenbelt, published author on the topic of customer satisfaction and loyalty, and a RIVA trained focus group moderator

Leathers has worked for notable international companies like Kellogg’s, as the Manager of Kid’s Market Research, on brands like Frosted Flakes, Corn Pops, Apple Jacks, and Froot Loops. Her areas of expertise include CPG, FMCG, Kids, Chronic illness/Health Issues, B2B, logistics supply chains, and organizations.  She has managed research in 42 countries for CHEP and has a strong background in International Research. She holds a BSBA from Montana State University and an MBA from University of Montana and resides in Orlando, Florida. She is the principal author of the Marketing Research Blog called Mindless Babble.

The PR angle on NASA’s final Space Shuttle misson, what’s next

Visit the NASA Kennedy Space Center’s infamous Launch Complex 39 Press Site, adjacent to the Vehicle Assembly Building, and learn how NASA handled record numbers of news media, television, web, social media, and events and for the final flights of the Space Shuttle.  

Join us for an on-site meeting with Lisa Malone, APR, CPRC, director of public affairs for NASA, Kennedy Space Center.  Lisa will discuss the news and events leading up to the end of the space shuttle program and what is next for the agency.

Lisa Malone serves as the Director of Public Affairs at NASA’s John F. Kennedy Space Center. With more than 25 years experience in Public Affairs, she is responsible for overseeing news media, television, web, social media, exhibits, and internal communications. She leads a diverse NASA and contractor team, which is tasked to disseminate information about NASA and Kennedy Space Center’s programs. Her responsibilities include managing media activities surrounding Expendable Launch Vehicle launches, flight hardware showings, and other high profile events.

2012 Media Summit

The Space Coast Chapter’s annual Media Summit (formerly Media Roundtable) is scheduled for THURSDAY, APRIL 12, 2012.

Space Coast Releases Call for Entry for 2012 Image Awards-Deadline Extended to March 15

Calling all communications professionals! The 2012 FPRA Image Awards is issuing a call for entries for the local Image Awards. The awards competition includes four divisions: Public Relations Programs, Printed Tools of Public Relations, Audio/Visual Tools of Public Relations and Student Projects in Public Relations. The deadline to enter the competition is March 15.

The Image Awards competition is conducted annually by FPRA to recognize outstanding public relations programs on the Space Coast and to encourage and promote the development of public relations professionalism in our state.

The Image Awards have become a standard of public relations excellence in the state of Florida. Winners demonstrate the very best examples of innovation, planning and design. To qualify for judging, an entry must incorporate sound public relations research and planning. Entries also must meet the highest standard of production, execution and evaluation of results and budget.

Planning and Managing PR Campaigns

It is said that a well considered plan is the essential foundation for any successful public relations campaign. This month’s luncheon will feature Chris Gent, APR, CPRC of Kissimmee Utility Authority who will offer tips on how to improve your ability to plan and manage PR campaigns, including resource allocation, budgeting, and the development of project teams and campaign elements. Chris will also highlight the public relations process – research, analysis, objective setting, planning, implementation and evaluation – and you’ll learn valuable tips on how to create a winning entry in FPRA’s Image Awards competition.


About the Speaker
Chris Gent, APR, CPRC is vice president of corporate communications for Kissimmee Utility Authority. An FPRA member since 1994, Chris has served eight years on the FPRA State Board of Directors, including six years on the Executive Committee. Chris spearheaded the FPRA conference blog in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011. He is a past president of the Orlando Area Chapter and received FPRA’s Doris Fleischman Award in 2001 and Member of the Year in 2011. He earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Central Florida and master’s degree in strategic public relations from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, where he graduated valedictorian in 2011.
