It is said that a well considered plan is the essential foundation for any successful public relations campaign. This month’s luncheon will feature Chris Gent, APR, CPRC of Kissimmee Utility Authority who will offer tips on how to improve your ability to plan and manage PR campaigns, including resource allocation, budgeting, and the development of project teams and campaign elements. Chris will also highlight the public relations process – research, analysis, objective setting, planning, implementation and evaluation – and you’ll learn valuable tips on how to create a winning entry in FPRA’s Image Awards competition.

About the Speaker
Chris Gent, APR, CPRC is vice president of corporate communications for Kissimmee Utility Authority. An FPRA member since 1994, Chris has served eight years on the FPRA State Board of Directors, including six years on the Executive Committee. Chris spearheaded the FPRA conference blog in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011. He is a past president of the Orlando Area Chapter and received FPRA’s Doris Fleischman Award in 2001 and Member of the Year in 2011. He earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Central Florida and master’s degree in strategic public relations from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, where he graduated valedictorian in 2011.

The Space Coast Chapter of FPRA gathered last week to network and spread a little holiday cheer. EGAD! Art Lab & Gallery provided the creative location for our annual holiday gathering. Members and guests enjoyed scrumptious Greek appetizers from Santorini of Eau Gallie, sampled fine wines from ABC Fine Wine & Spirits, festive mini-cheesecakes from CheeseKates as well as great company and fantastic artwork! In an effort to share a little holiday cheer and encourage children in the love of reading, members also brought along book donations for Rolling Readers of the Space Coast.

Join us for the Space Coast FPRA Holiday Networking Social

Join us for a festive evening where the arts collide with business during our holiday social at EGAD! Art Lab, Gallery + Studio.

EGAD! Art Lab: Gallery + Studio is in the historic Eau Gallie Arts District, and includes contemporary exhibits, interactive events and a working studio.

The Space Coast FPRA will host its annual Holiday Networking Social at EGAD! Art Lab on Thursday, December 8, 5-7 p.m. We will provide hors d’oeuvres and cocktails.

The price of admission is an K-6 (elementary) book donation(s) to Rolling Readers. Rolling Readers, a non-profit literacy program, started on the Space Coast in 1997. They campaign to develop children’s desire to be lifelong readers by providing them with high-impact program materials, books and volunteer services. The books can be new or gently used.

On August 30, 2011, the Space Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) installed its new board. The new board was installed during the Chapter’s Annual Roast & Toast event, which took place at Melbourne Hilton Rialto.

During the Roast and Toast event, the FPRA Space Coast Chapter also presented its annual awards to the chapter members. Aliona Groh of Hoyman Dobson was presented with The Rising Star award, which is given to a local practitioner who has just begun his or her career in public relations, but who has made significant contributions to the Space Coast Chapter. The Chapter Service Award was presented to Julie Arnold of Griffin Communications Group for her outstanding contributions to member communications. Carey Beam of Craig Technologies was presented with the Member of the Year award for her always going above and beyond the call of duty and who made significant contributions to the Chapter’s success. Linda Herrige, APR, of Abacus Technology was presented with the Doris Fleishman Award, for her consistent and tireless efforts, often behind the scenes.

The 2011 FPRA State Conference concluded yesterday and was the highlight conference of the year for the attendees. The Space Coast Chapter had an excellent showing and had numerous opportunities to network as well as excellent professional development opportunities. The Chapter received an Award of Excellence for excelling in fundraising during the 2010-2011 year. Congratulations!

Save the date for the 2011 FPRA Roast & Toast

The Space Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) will host its Annual Roast & Toast event on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

This year’s event features the “roasting” of one of our community’s most respected and admired community leaders, Mike Means, CEO of Health First. It will also include recognition of the best and brightest in the field of public relations here in Brevard County, including the “toasting” of the 2011 PR Professional of the Year, Amelia Woodbridge.
