<p>Visit the NASA Kennedy Space Center’s infamous Launch Complex 39 Press Site, adjacent to the Vehicle Assembly Building, and learn how NASA handled record numbers of news media, television, web, social media, and events and for the final flights of the Space Shuttle.  <strong></strong></p>
<p><strong>Join us for an on-site meeting with Lisa Malone, APR, CPRC, director of public affairs for NASA, Kennedy Space Center.  </strong>Lisa<strong> </strong>will discuss the news and events leading up to the end of the space shuttle program and what is next for the agency.</p>
<p>Lisa Malone serves as the Director of Public Affairs at NASA&#8217;s John F. Kennedy Space Center. With more than 25 years experience in Public Affairs, she is responsible for overseeing news media, television, web, social media, exhibits, and internal communications. She leads a diverse NASA and contractor team, which is tasked to disseminate information about NASA and Kennedy Space Center’s programs. Her responsibilities include managing media activities surrounding Expendable Launch Vehicle launches, flight hardware showings, and other high profile events.</p>

<p>Badging: Participants will be required to obtain a badge from the Kennedy Space Center security department.  Participants are to complete badging and meet at the KSC badging center at 9:00 a.m. to caravan to the NASA KSC Press Site.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Calling all communications professionals! The 2012 FPRA Image Awards is issuing a call for entries for the local Image Awards. The awards competition includes four divisions: Public Relations Programs, Printed Tools of Public Relations, Audio/Visual Tools of Public Relations and Student Projects in Public Relations. The deadline to enter the competition is March 15.</p>
<p>The Image Awards competition is conducted annually by FPRA to recognize outstanding public relations programs on the Space Coast and to encourage and promote the development of public relations professionalism in our state.</p>
<p>The Image Awards have become a standard of public relations excellence in the state of Florida. Winners demonstrate the very best examples of innovation, planning and design. To qualify for judging, an entry must incorporate sound public relations research and planning. Entries also must meet the highest standard of production, execution and evaluation of results and budget.</p>

This month’s luncheon will feature Chris Gent, APR, CPRC of Kissimmee Utility Authority who will offer tips on how to improve your ability to plan and manage PR campaigns, including <span style="color:#1b1818;">resource allocation, budgeting,</span> and the development of project teams and campaign elements. Chris will also highlight the <span style="color:#1b1818;">public relations process – research, analysis, objective setting, planning, implementation and evaluation – and you’ll learn valuable tips on how to create a winning entry in FPRA’s Image Awards competition.</span></span></p>

</strong>Chris Gent, APR, CPRC is vice president of corporate communications for Kissimmee Utility Authority. An FPRA member since 1994, Chris has served eight years on the FPRA State Board of Directors, including six years on the Executive Committee. Chris spearheaded the FPRA conference blog in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011. He is a past president of the Orlando Area Chapter and received FPRA’s Doris Fleischman Award in 2001 and Member of the Year in 2011. He earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Central Florida and master’s degree in strategic public relations from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, where he graduated valedictorian in 2011.</span></p>

<p>I work for the largest public relations firm in the world and know nothing about public relations. What I do know is the importance of relevant content and why it&#8217;s important to an overall communications plan. Many PR firms are now responsible for posting content on a brand&#8217;s Facebook page and Twitter account. <p>Justin will be the featured speaker at the next Space Coast FPRA program (open to both members and non-members) on September 22, at the Holiday Inn, Viera.</p>
