The Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) is calling for entries for its 55^th annual Golden Image Awards competition. The Golden Image Awards is conducted annually by FPRA to recognize outstanding public relations programs in Florida and to encourage and promote the development of public relations professionalism in our state.

The Golden Image Awards has become a standard of public relations excellence in the state of Florida. Winners demonstrate the very best examples of innovation, planning and design. The awards competition consists of four divisions of categories: Public Relations Programs, Printed Tools of Public Relations, Audio/Visual/ Online Tools of Public Relations and Student Projects in Public Relations. To qualify for judging, an entry must incorporate sound public relations research and planning. Entries also must meet the highest standard of production, execution and evaluation of results. The Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America will judge this year’s entries.

The deadline to enter this year’s Golden Image Awards competition is 5 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012. For more information, or to download a Golden Image Awards entry form, click HERE.

The Golden Image awards are presented at FPRA’s Annual Conference to be held this year on August 5-8 at the Renaissance World Golf Village Resort in historic St. Augustine. More information on the conference, including registration information, is included on the Association’s website.

Space Coast Releases Call for Entry for 2012 Image Awards-Deadline Extended to March 15

Calling all communications professionals! The 2012 FPRA Image Awards is issuing a call for entries for the local Image Awards. The awards competition includes four divisions: Public Relations Programs, Printed Tools of Public Relations, Audio/Visual Tools of Public Relations and Student Projects in Public Relations. The deadline to enter the competition is March 15.

Planning and Managing PR Campaigns

It is said that a well considered plan is the essential foundation for any successful public relations campaign. This month’s luncheon will feature Chris Gent, APR, CPRC of Kissimmee Utility Authority who will offer tips on how to improve your ability to plan and manage PR campaigns, including resource allocation, budgeting, and the development of project teams and campaign elements. Chris will also highlight the public relations process – research, analysis, objective setting, planning, implementation and evaluation – and you’ll learn valuable tips on how to create a winning entry in FPRA’s Image Awards competition.

About the Speaker
Chris Gent, APR, CPRC is vice president of corporate communications for Kissimmee Utility Authority. An FPRA member since 1994, Chris has served eight years on the FPRA State Board of Directors, including six years on the Executive Committee. Chris spearheaded the FPRA conference blog in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011. He is a past president of the Orlando Area Chapter and received FPRA’s Doris Fleischman Award in 2001 and Member of the Year in 2011. He earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Central Florida and master’s degree in strategic public relations from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, where he graduated valedictorian in 2011.

The price of admission is an K-6 (elementary) book donation(s) to Rolling Readers. Rolling Readers, a non-profit literacy program, started on the Space Coast in 1997. They campaign to develop children’s desire to be lifelong readers by providing them with high-impact program materials, books and volunteer services. The books can be new or gently used.

On August 30, 2011, the Space Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) installed its new board. The new board was installed during the Chapter’s Annual Roast & Toast event, which took place at Melbourne Hilton Rialto.

During the Roast and Toast event, the FPRA Space Coast Chapter also presented its annual awards to the chapter members. Aliona Groh of Hoyman Dobson was presented with The Rising Star award, which is given to a local practitioner who has just begun his or her career in public relations, but who has made significant contributions to the Space Coast Chapter. The Chapter Service Award was presented to Julie Arnold of Griffin Communications Group for her outstanding contributions to member communications. Carey Beam of Craig Technologies was presented with the Member of the Year award for her always going above and beyond the call of duty and who made significant contributions to the Chapter’s success. Linda Herrige, APR, of Abacus Technology was presented with the Doris Fleishman Award, for her consistent and tireless efforts, often behind the scenes.
