The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF), a nonprofit organization, is seeking a dynamic person to step into the role of Communications Manager. This person will manage and implement all aspects of ASF’s internal and external communications for its programs and the organization in general. Candidates must have strong marketing and management skills, as they will be leading a team of two strong support members. The Foundation has several unique fundraising programs throughout the year and the Communications Manager will be responsible for conceptualizing, drafting and executing marketing plans on each.
Candidates should be excellent writers and editors, given that they will be drafting and overseeing press releases, e-campaigns, correspondences, website copy, quarterly newsletters, an annual magazine and scripts. In addition, candidates should be comfortable with public speaking, as they will interface with media, donors, astronauts, college representatives and Scholar Alumni. Responsibilities will also include managing and implementing advertising initiatives such as direct mailers, event programs, brochures, magazines, print/radio ads, internet buttons, website content and video production. As well as, managing social marketing and promotions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications/PR or a related field
- At least two years experience in related field
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Strong management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe
- Able to take initiative and complete tasks on own
- Basic Space History knowledge a plus
- Able to work nights, weekends and travel when require
